Today I am putting on some old slides that I found, first apologies for the quality but I hope that you find them of interest.
The first is of Cairngryffe Iron Age fort . This site however goes back to the Neolithic era. I dug up here in the late 1980`s and found some Neolithic pottery and flints as well as Early Bronze Age material including some cannel coal discs used to form a necklace.
The Iron Age Fort at Cairngryffe had imposing stone ramparts to the 1780`s when they were demolished to use for stone dykes round about .
Lanark Museum recently acquired through Treasure Trove some Bronze Age items including a couple of axes . These belong to the Early Bronze Age c.2000 B.C.
